Philosophy

The Faith Community Child Development Center (FCCDC) was established to provide an enrichment program for children in an atmosphere of Christian love. The school is operated and sponsored by Faith Community Church as a ministry to the community. The purpose is to give each child the opportunity to grow and develop in a quality early childhood program; to provide a Christian environment where he/she can learn to live cooperatively and to be treated with respect. The school is licensed by the Colorado Department of Social Services and has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) for over 20 years, one of the highest accreditations a preschool can achieve. This prestigious accreditation is only awarded to quality Child Care Programs which have undergone a rigorous evaluation by NAEYC involving over 450 criteria.

Program Goals

To help each child:

•  develop a sense of self worth
•  foster a joy for learning
•  experience the freedom to create, discover, and explore
•  be a thoughtful, cooperative, and responsible being
•  enrich his or her life through Christian education
•  become aware of God's world

Program Curriculum

The curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn by process rather than the end product. It is designed to be non-threatening, providing positive reinforcement and immediate feedback. Through directed play & theme-based activities, children will experience math/science, language proficiencies, reading readiness, music, art, physical aptitude including fine and large motor activities, and a sense of Christian values. From these experiences, children may develop skills in following directions, making choices, problem solving, independence, and curiosity toward life and the world.

Enrollment

Enrollment is open to all children between the ages of 1 - 6 years regardless of race, nationality or ethnic origin and is based on the Jefferson County School District cut-off date of October 1.  Special needs students will be accepted if their needs can be met without requiring a fundamental change to the program. We reserve the right to prioritize according to any of the following: age of the child, sibling(s) currently enrolled, boy/girl ratio.

Parent Participation

Parent involvement is a vital part of our preschool program.  It is only through parent participation that our school can maintain the high standard of early childhood education offered.  Each parent or relative is asked to volunteer seven times per year.  This can include volunteering in the classroom, assisting with fundraising events, helping with special projects, participating on a special committee, etc.  There are many opportunities available and your time is greatly appreciated.

Visitors

Visitors are always welcome.  If you would like to visit our school, please contact the preschool office at (303) 979-8789.  Families may visit our facility during normal operating hours, 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  For the safety of the children, visitors are required to sign in and out in the preschool office and will be escorted by a staff member while in the facility.
